So...with all the chat about T's wnw, O's unlimited, V's new data tariffs etc...how much do we need?

Over the last year I have used O's OW25 package - with 25 mb. I have used my ppc's for gprs surfing a little (say one-two hours per week with images turned off and avoiding data hungry sites like ebay)), IM (say two hours a week), pop mail (say ten emails a day) and activesync with exchange (say 5-20 emails per day plus directpush in the last few months). On a normal month my data usage will be less than 25 (between 10 and 20mb). It has thus been costing me £13 or similar for all of my data per month.

I know this would have been cheaper on T's wnw - but lets not go there. I have been using wifi on my last three devices to surf when at home (and couldnt be bothered getting my laptop) and if out and about I would find a free wifi point if I knew I was about to use a lot of data.

Now that I have a 3100 and my Try 3G starts on 3rd Sept, how much more data will I use? I would guess that even with really heavy usage, my daily peak would be 25mb, but my average usage about 10mb, and thus 300mb per month.

Can some of you with webnwalk and either itemised billing (does it show your data on wnw) and/or gprs monitors let us know how much you use?

I had unlimited for a while, and although i didnt hammer it too much i did use it without worry of extra charges, clocked up on average a mere 30MB a month. I was quite surprised tbh...

I've got the old web'n'walk (limited to 40 meg) on an unlocked SPV m500 (which comes with spb gprs monitor).

I use opera browser to limit amount of data and the only time I got close to exceeding it was when I tried out a third party push email application and it used up over 2 meg a day.

I have also noticed that spb gprs monitor always overestimates the amount of data I'm actually logged as using by t-mobile.

I'm sure, however, that when I receive my m3100 and unlock it for use on T-Mobile HSDPA, that the sheer speed will automatically mean I will be able to download more in a given time and hence send my data usage much higher.

I use always on mail (of which I get tons), surf a lot, use Messenger, IRC, and am working on apps that really make the most of flat rate.

Yes, I need it wink.gif

Any idea how much you actually use in a month?

Is use email (ckecks every two hours), Web surfing (mostly mobile forums!), download news headlines (once or twice a day) and download weather (every four hours). I use about 150 - 200 Mb per month.

Wow, you guys don't use much data! My data usage is slightly different than most because we have EVDO here in the US with max speeds of 2MB. I have Exchange set to get email as they arrive, and get about 30-40 a day, browse numerous websites (including ebay), download weather to PocketWeather, and watch Slingplayer. A typical month for me is around 1GB, with peak months going up to 3GB. Yeah, I think unlimited is required for my usage.
