 3G USB Modem effect on EEE PC 901 battery life

I`m getting the EEE PC 901 with 12GB SSD and XP and am thinking about switching to mobile broadband but I wonder how much effect running a 3G USB Modem stick will have on the excellent battery life (4.2 - 8 hours with this model).... is the worse case scenario likely to be about 4 hours with the USB stick connected and wifi/bluetooth off or will it go a bit longer then that.

In short how much does running a USB 3G stick affect battery, I know running 3G on my tytn II has a big battery hit.
