paidContent is reporting that Virgin Mobile are to finally introduce proper Mobile Data, with the launch of Laptop orientated Mobile Broadband plans later this year.

The move, set to hit in Q4 this year, is a definite late entry compared to the other networks, but has been driven by an agreement with MVNO backbone provider T-Mobile to reduce the wholesale rates paid for voice and data. This should also allow Virgin to lower their normal Mobile Data tariffs.

As more networks enter the Mobile Broadband space, this can only serve to drive down prices, which is definitely a good thing!.

We'll be watching with interest...
