I wouldn't use one.

The layout is designed to keep the breast-fed Nokia brigade happy, the menu is straight forward enough, but only recently have the handsets been worth considering. The LGu880 is nice enough, but it would take more than that for me to buy an LG

Quite unknown is the fact that LG use an Ericsson mobile platform for most of their devices, the 3g devices they have out are really good (the best from a hardware point of view)

didnt say hardware build mate, I said hardware, as in processors and radio circuitry, Ericsson make the best stuff no question, what plastic LG decide to wrap that up in is another matter.

QUOTE
' date='Feb 7 2006, 16:34' post='272']I've never owned an LG phone, and in fact never used an LG phone even!

I notice that since the advent of 3G, they seem to be gaining some traction in the market, and some of them even look quite good. I did hear rumours they were going to produce a Windows Based phone too.

So what are they like? Recommended? Aye? Nay?

P

Hi Paul
Daughter had one - yuck - really bad phone, plastic and very unreliable.....camera lousy with fuzzy piccys.
Forget which model, she ditched it (after sending it back for the 3rd time) and got an upgrade to a Nokia 6something-or-other. SIL still has his, but just waiting for contract to run out to get it changed.

Currently using a few models from LG... But nothing much to brag about... Similar designs to Samsung, and Innostream. Slightly looks like a Pantech...

The model that I am using now is the S5200... May not be one of the best models but it's quite nice to use... Simple yet elegant...

Good pic tho.

looks like a carphone warehouse to me!

Back to the phone thing tho...old LG's not worth the plastic used to build them, truly awful things! the u880 is pretty good by their standards but still not great, suprisingly popular i may say tho!
they are still cranking out their signature big bulky things, great big bluetooth enabled paperweights!

My sister (in the USA) has had LG phones for ages on the CDMA2000 based Sprint network, not bad as flip phones go, but nothing special. Confusing menus. She and husband have recently moved and have got new phones and now have flip motorolas on cingular. Don't think she can tell the difference, except the new ones are colour... :-)

I used to provide tech support for LG phones - LG's washing machines would probably make better mobile phones than the attempts I've had to wrestle with.

Wifey is at upgrade point and likes the slidey touch pad aspect... i quite like it too and am tempted for a toy...

Anyone had any experience of it yet?

I have been playing with one of these recently at work, it is pretty decent to be honest - not somethingi thought i would say about an LG!!

Menu's are all pretty simple, buttons work well, and camera is decent.

And the games are good as well biggrin.gif

All in all, a good fun phone and a decent gadget to play with!

Wifey has had the Choc for a couple of weeks now and its going well!! The build quality is fine -as in it should last the year before boredom/upgrade... Apart from the cover over the charger/headphone socket. Its a bit loose already and doesnt look like it will survive...

Call quality is good, camera is better than my Magician and the MP3 features are all perfectly acceptable.

The best aspct of this phone is the touch sensitive 'buttons'. Its a marmite function but i like it! Gets almost everyone going 'oooh, niiice!'

A mate commented thats its very iPod-ish in feel and look so a white one would probably attract the Podophiles amongst us.

Menus are all standard fare and dont hold any surprises but i cant work out how to turn to Txt alert tone volume up...

I like it and i would recommend it as a good phone.

a bit girly tho...

The choco is a good phone , shame theres no windows mobile on it , but samsung thought the model was good and copied it as well, even though both models are out here the choco sells more than the samsung .
but the choco is more a ladies phone and is aimed at that , good one for the mrs paul wink.gif
