Hi guys,

Apologies if this is the wrong section or anything-first time Mobiholics poster here (I usually stick to Modaco tongue.gif )

Anyway, i'm due to renew my contract with T-Mob on Friday and as i've never done this before I don't really know what to expect or what to ask for. I've been looking at the phones they give out for free to new subscribers-should I be looking at better phones than this as i'm a 'valued' customer of the last 18 months, or are these special new deals to entice new customers?

I'm on Flext 25 with WnW plus so have a monthly spend of £37.50, only been over this once when on holiday. I'm looking for a new phone rather than money off line rental (plan to e-bay the phone and use the funds for the HTC S740). So any ideas of what I should be looking to get from T-Mobile?

Well i've been waiting for the right phone to upgrade to, and it was a very poor offer for existing customers compared with new ones. However I did ring customer retentions (150, option 3, option 1) and they were able to offer me a much better deal. Basically the website goes on a standard formula for things, whereas the retentions department can look at things and make a better judgement.

If they make you an offer, you can think about it for a while - as they will put a comment on your account about the offer so others can refer back to it at a later date.

Good luck.

That's the way to play it...
  • Look around the T-Mobile site and see what phones are available...
  • Then see what the cost, if any, for NEW Customers is, for these handsets or any that take your fancy.
  • Then ring Upgrades, and see what they say.
  • If Upgrades don't offer something comparable to new customers, go to Retentions and say you are not very happy to be treated second rate, for being loyal and staying. As well as Handset cost or price matching, see if they can do any other benefits or discounts on your Tariff too while you are on.
Then let us know via here how you come on.

BEAR IN MIND THOUGH...

That normally, when you Upgrade, you can keep the existing tariff as it stands, etc etc.

But currently, I am led to believe that if you Upgrade with T-Mo, you MAY have to change to the slightly newer form of their tariffs that include a higher allowance level (good), but now CHARGE for voicemail whereas before it came out of your allowance (so bad).

Check and ask at the time - you may find that you can stay on existing Tariff is this is better for you (i.e. you actually use VoiceMail a bit). If you don't ever really use your own VoiceMail though, then the newer tariff with higher inclusive allowance will likely be better for you maybe.

It's not just voicemail - make sure you can keep W'n'W Plus!

Thanks guys, especially Shadamehr as that was exactly the kind of info I was after. It's very much appreciated biggrin.gif

What's this about WnW plus and making sure I can still get it? Have they stopped it or something? I remember reading a few posts on here from people who'd tried to go to the new style tarifs and had it cut off. I'm perfectly happy with my current deal-can I just stay on that? I don't use all of my allowance as it is so I wouldn't benefit from any increase in minutes/texts. Keeping WnW plus is far more important as I use msn quite a bit. Thanks again guys

By they way, are you guys able to see anything on t-mobile upgrade offer online?
All I get is an error page, and had this for the past month or so when i should be seeing upgrade offers..
Or is the error page due to the new policy or not upgrading customers...?

Thanks
