Hey everyone, I'm about to travel to the UK in July, a 10-day trip. During the trip I'll use only my phone to access email, etc. I don't expect to be using too much traffic, but still - with the current roaming charges it would cost me approx. €50+ to transfer some 10 megabytes. Even if the new EU regulations bring this down by 50% it still seems too much.

Is there any pre-paid SIM option from UK-based operators that you would recommend, and that would provide me with better rates? I've been checking websites of Orange UK, etc, and they usually list the mobile internet price (for pre-paid SIMs) as a "1 GBP maximum per day" or something very similar, is this a common practice? If I understand this correctly, I would effectively get a flat rate for 10 GBP (with my 10-day stay).

Also, it seems I can't order a pre-paid SIM online from outside UK (online orders seem to have a better price)

Thanks for any recommendations!

Three do a good deal on mobile internet, £5 for a month. Not sure how much they will charge for a SIM in their shops though. Most of the free SIM deals require online ordering to get them, which would mean having a UK address to send the SIM to, but pop into a three store when you're over and have a talk to the staff there.

Thanks for the tip, looks like a very good deal!
I've sent them an email about the cost of the SIM in a shop, as I couldn't find it anywhere on their website.
