Whoever came up with Oranges marketing strategy of providing ridiculously named expensive contracts for 18 months, unusably expensive data and rude, poorly trained staff with a CS setup that means you can't actually get any problem with a handset solved AND seems to have instigated a rule that although they say they will phone back they NEVER ACTUALLY DO should really be shot. If thats how France Telecomm wish to do business I can't wait to see them flushed down the tubes. Viva le T-Mobile revolution! And by no means is that MY rant over! Rant on my friend!! Viva la T-Mobile revolution....I havn't looked back! |

The mobile phone market is mental for competition. O/Voda/Tmob/etc are all well aware customers don't want 18 month contracts, but they have to make money somehow! Customers want a top of the range phone for free, with 1000 mins and unlimited sms+data for ?25 a month, and as (some) have realised, the sums don't balance, _unless_ you take into consideration 18 month contracts. Agreed, but the choice (even in the franchised shops) should be available. As I said before, I don't expect unrealistic price plans for my 12 months so long as it's fair. I don't even mind contributing a fair share of the phone price either. This option was taken away from me by Orange unless I accepted an 18 month contract. "No" business seems to be preferable to "some" business as far as Orange is concerned. Shame really, I liked the network. JB |

But the FlexT tarrifs are 18 month only But with 25% off I signed up for 18 months anyway ?32 / month for all my data, texts and voice - that will do nicely sir! I'm on relax 25 (?25 p/month with 150 mins 500 txts and 5 mms) and web 'n' walk unlimited (?7.50) on a 12 month contract. Bought in a T-Mobile shop in Leeds. Can't fault it. Orange signal was better though as was their 3G signal. Also as posted elsewhere the Orange shops are looking VERY empty these days as is Vodafone. O2 seems fairly busy and T-Mobile are VERY busy. In 'their' defence... there is a difference between New Customers and Upgrade Customers. New customers on many networks can still get 12month contracts, although there are better deals with the 18month contracts. However for upgrades / RENEWing a contract - the networks are getting tighter. I recently renewed a Vodafone and Orange contracts and was told by both companies (dealing directly with Orange Retail and Vodafone Retail on their respective handset direct dial numbers) that if I renewed it HAD to be on an 18 month contract... Neither company would let me renew for 12 months - I don't have an O2 or T-Mobile contract so can't speak for their policies, but just to say it isn't ONLY Orange pushing this tactic (sorry "policy" !) For gods sake, what is wrong with these people who run Orange / Vodafone (don't know about O2). NOT ALL CUSTOMERS want an 18 month contract! I don't want "pay as you go" and I don't expect all the "extras" of an 18 month contract either. I just want a FAIR 12 month contract with an upgrade without being mis-sold an 18 month contract. I don't care who owns what franchise or who sells direct, thats all irrelevant to me. Sell me a product I want to buy! Most (but not all) people who sign these 18 month contracts are blinded by a new shiny phone at the time. 8-9 months down the line most (but by no means all) will be bored of there phone / network and will be looking forward to an upgrade soon. Sorry guys, will be the answer from the network. Your on an 18 month contract, you can't upgrade for another 7-8 months. Cancelling the contract could be costly too. 12 months is long enough to be tied to a contract, especially within the telecoms industry. Orange went from outstanding to very poor in around 12 - 18 months. This is all academic anyway, as i'm with T-Mobile now. Very happy so far, "12 month contract...no problem sir, what tariff would you like? Of course you can have unlimited data access sir." Web 'n' Walk. Not rocket science, but it's what customers want and I don't get branded with an animal tariff! JB |

Or, how about doing the sensibled thing and realising that Orange really aren't interested in rewarding loyal customers and therefore taking your pac number onto someone like TMobile? Why anyone would want to stay with them after they've been told theyre not respected enough to be treated like a loyal customer is beyond me! I totally agree! I left Orange last week, am now with T-Mobile - Unlimited internet ?7.50 anyone?? JB |

Hello, I'm trying to make a video call to another 3G enabled handset on the O2 network from my Orange handset (6680). When I try, I get an error message saying "Check network services". I have spoken to Orange who have gone through my phone settings, account settings and sent a SIM update to refresh my USIM but still I get this error. It's gone to tech support, even the data support team said it could be a while until I get an answer!!! I have a full 3G signal, so does my friend - confirmed by voice call afterwards. I have had this before but it seemed to clear it's self a few minutes after speaking to customer services back in February. The video answer service started working then also. But now, nothing just the error again. Anyone else had this? Thanks JB |

I don't like the "mandatory ?1.50" for itemised billing in the small print, but then i suppose a ?30 a month contract would look expensive at ?31.50 per month compared with some of the other networks. Don't forget the 1p on delivery reports bringing the cost of a text with report to unlucky 13p per text. |

This is mainly for Sporkguy, If Orange (the shop version) is different to Orange (who you call on 150 etc), how come they are permitted to brand themselves as the same when they aren't with no notice saying they are a franchise and as such only an authorized dealer for Orange? This really confuses the customers as we think we are buying direct from Orange but from the shop, which I prefer doing. Face to face in a shop the old fashioned way. Also if I wanted to complain about the service (or mis-selling) who do I complain to, is it the shop manager or Orange on 150? Are the shops ultimately under the control of Orange? Cheers Sporkguy - I felt like I really wanted to shout at her in the Orange shop because It was such a blatant lie, life is too short however. JB |

Evening all, I went into an Orange shop today in Leeds, white rose centre and spoke to a lady called Jenny (a phone trainer). What I wanted was to just check out what they had before finally making my mind up to leave Orange or not, one last chance sort of thing - brain still refusing to acknowledge how SH*TE they have become as a company!! Anyway, she explained I was on band three so the prices of phones would be ...... (varied from phone to phone). The clanger was dropped when I asked about 12 month contracts with my existing plan or one of them stupid zoo tariffs, she said Orange NO LONGER DO 12 MONTH CONTRACTS!!!! But she could do me 10% off my line rental for 6 months!!!!!! I said "I was offered a 12 month contract from Orange not more than 2 weeks ago when they called me!" she said "No sorry we don't do them, nor do the other networks...". I politely told her the other networks DO PLENTY of 12 month contracts as do Orange. This was met with a blank expression so I decided no business could be done with her. My god, what the hell was she talking about!!! Oh yes I know COMMISION!!!!! Mis-selling a contract didn't seem to make any difference, shorly the customer should be made aware of ALL contract options!! I have spoken to Orange on the phone who assured me they DO offer 12 month contracts and the shop was nothing to do with them (sounds of tap running as he washed his hands of the matter!) The shop was a fully branded Orange shop with staff in Orange brand uniforms, I thought these shops were part of Orange and not a franchise as such???!!!??? Words just escape me how bad they are becoming, for gods sake Orange, if you read these forums, PLEASE listen to your customers/staff - STOP THE ZOO, CHANGE YOUR COMMISION POLICY, BEAT THE OTHER NETWORKS ON QUALITY AND VALUE!! sorry for the rant, thanks for listening! Just had to post this! Was browsing the Orange topics, full of complaints and grievances - no good things being said. Low and behold the sponsored link is for the new Orange price plans from good old Orange. I don't think they will get many takers advertising on this forum unless they change there ways. At least they are paying for us to complain about them and tell the world what a shower of poo they can be when they want to be! But like the murpheys, I not bitter! JB |

Not exactly on topic but it is service related, kind of... There email service is CRAP!!!! The online service through the web browser works 50% of the time and the POP service is the same. It used to be very reliable but now.......you know the rest!! The online account service is also hit and miss. Call me paranoid but I remember a year or so ago Orange did a survey about the email service asking if people would miss it if it were discontinued. I think it's an expense they DON'T want. Make it CRAP, nobody will want to use it. Trouble is they are doing this with the network too. Make the network crap.....................bloody french, they've always hated us!! JB |

I'm very surprised at this. Orange have never, in my past employment experience, called a customer directly. They will either allow retail stores to do this, or let the independents handle the customers due for renewal. You sure it was Orange? Good choice leaving, btw Yeah it was definitely Orange. The number she called me on was 07973100194. She said she was from Orange and that she would put a "note" on my account saying she had called and the comments I made to her about why I don't want to upgrade. JB |

Hello, Got a surprise call from Orange today. I am a month and a half off my contract ending and they called ME to say I can upgrade to a free phone on a promotional tariff with special offers. I didn't enter into specific details with her because I told her I would most likely be leaving in June due to poor customer service (2 written complaints in 12 months and at least 4 pointless conversations with CS) also I told her the new tariffs were a bit of a joke. She then said with some enthusiasm "Do you know we have some new plans out...?" I said "Yes, thats what I'm talking about...!" she then sounded a little downbeat and thanked me for my time and said Orange don't want to loose my custom and to call them if I change my mind. It left me feeling a bit sorry for the poor animals in the Orange price plan zoo... Don't know what to do now.. JB |

FYI: Orange read these forums, So everybody should let them know what they think of the new talkplans Personally, in the face of tmobile, Orange are going to suffer majorly - especially given that their level of Customer Service in the past 12-18 months has nose dived considerably. They don't have many good members of staff anymore If they are indeed reading these threads then I really hope they take note that people are NOT happy! I for one think the talk plans are far too rigid. You are also expected to pay more for less! The 1p for a delivery report is a total rip off in every sense of the word - the bloody text costs 12p for gods sake on the new plans!! Also you only get any of the "benefits" of each animal talk plan if you take out an 18 month contract - I for one will NEVER take out an 18 month contract, far too long a time for them to guarantee my business!! For example, free answer phone and insurance is thrown in on the racoon plan ONLY on an 18 month contract from ?25+. This is NOT available to 12 month contracts ?25+!!!!!!! Disgrace!!!!!!!! As talked about before, 90% of CS are total rubbish and Tech support is 110% useless - why is it you can't talk to them direct???Do they exist???the truth is out there!!! I thought Orange were top$$$ when I first joined but now...................... Thanks france telecom, stick to messing up your own companies in future! In the interest of balance, Orange are now charging the same as O2 and Voda for comparable talk plans but for the money, you get more little extras with O2 and Voda. Looks like I'll be heading off to another operator in June. JB |

Surely that's the basic mistake Orange (and the others are making).. There is no "Win", and the way to get ahead is to take customers from your competitors, whilst keeping as many of your own as you can It's the second part that Orange in particular dont seem to get. That is soooooooooo true chucky.egg. The key to it IS also keeping your current customer base!! They had the adverts on the telly with the wise man telling the big execs at Orange how to keep the customers happy, obviously the real directors are as brain dead as the actor portrayed because they do not practice what they preach. The tech support is my main bug bare, they are totally uselesss. How many times do you have to remove your SIM card, do a dance, pat your head, whistle a tune and reset the phone before they accept it's got a fault! It's also hit and miss to weather or not you get a helpfull / knowledgable CS operator. Come on Orange (and all other operators as I suspect your all the same) sort it out, directors - Listen to what customers are saying! Orange.......Best of a bad bunch - Unfortunately! JB |

Does ne1 know if its possible to check how many txt messages you have sent or how much you've spent on calls since your last bill was produced. The online billing on orange only tells you what your latest bill was and how many inclusive mins you have left. Thanks in advance...Ben |
