As Expected Orange will be the second uk network operator to bundle free laptops with mobile broadband

As previously announced with 3 orange have become the next operator to launch laptops with mobile broadband.

Again the deal is subject to a 24 Month contract so works out rather expensive for the hardware that you actually get! The deal will only be launched directly via Orange Shops and the Orange Website.

For £25 per month Orange will supply the Asus Eee PC 900 with 3gb and 100 sms.

The other plans range from £35 - £45pm which offer different HP Laptops, with unlimited data and 500 free WIFI minutes.

The launch date is expected to be August.

Are these free laptop deals of interest to anyone? Lets us know your thoughts

First iPhone 2.0 antivirus software released!

A computer security firm based in Paris - Intego - has said late last week it had released the first antivirus software for Apple's iPhone handset.

Here's their press release blurb (full press release here)

QUOTE(Intego)
Not only Macs are at risk from malware; now that users can install applications on the iPhone and iPod touch, these devices are open to attack as well. Intego, the Macintosh security specialist, today announced the release of VirusBarrier X5 10.5.3, an update to its acclaimed antivirus software that Macworld calls “the gold standard”. This new version adds the ability to scan the iPhone and iPod touch for malware. VirusBarrier X5 is the only antivirus software that can eradicate malware from the iPhone and iPod touch.

However, it's not appears to be what they are claiming...

Sophos has pointed out that Intego's product was not really scanning the iPhone. Instead it was scanning the files being transferred between the Mac and the iPhone.

Still, it has something to protect, even that there are only one known malware out there for the iPhone.

Are the anti-virus companies going a bit too far with this hype of viruses scare for iPhone?

3 will be the first mobile phone network in the uk to bundle Laptops with it's mobile broadband.

The packages, expected to be introduced in August will be subject to a minimum 24 month contract and will include 5gb of data allowance.

Of course, this is not new as AOL and The Carphone Warehouse already offer similar deals, but this will be offered directly by the network instead of by a reseller.

It is also expected that Orange and Vodafone will be introducing similar offers later in the year.

3 intend to launch with three HP laptops, including the Pavilion DV6000, bundled with the 3 USB mobile broadband dongles.

The packages to be offered will cost from £30/pm.

Contract Customers on Three will now have to contact the Network to have international data roaming enabled.

The Network has set this system up to avoid people being overcharged without previous knowledge.

When a customer contacts the network they will be advised of the Roaming Data charges before they have it enabled. This way the Network cannot be held responsible for anyone racking up huge charges!

Google Talk has been released for the iPhone!

While I personally don't use Google Talk, it does look good and easy to use, just like a few IM applications out there.

Here's a snippet from Google Mobile Blog:

QUOTE(Google Mobile Blog)
We've just released in the US a new version of Google Talk designed specifically for the iPhone and iPod Touch browsers. In addition to sending your friends Gmail messages from your iPhone, you can now chat with them while you're on the move, too! In your iPhone browser, just go to www.google.com/talk, sign in and start chatting. That's it. Google Talk runs entirely in the browser so there's no need to download or install anything.

Point your iPhone browser to http://www.google.com/talk to download it

QUOTE(jkOnTheRun)
Luxury leather case maker Vaja is ready for the imminent release of the Apple iPhone 3G with four cases to protect their customer's investment. The cases start from $45 - $85 and come in different forms to meet the user's preference.

Looks good! You can even customise it to your needs, add a clip, change colour, or add a text/graphic to it.

Are you going to get one when you have your hands on the new iPhone 3G?

Sprint to Increase Data Plan Prices

A while ago, Sprint put a cap on their previous unlimited data plans which is 5GB for Sprint network and 300MB for roaming. But wait, they think it's not good enough. It has been rumored of an increase in costs of the existing data plans.

QUOTE(Rumored)
Sprint’s $15 per month Vision and Power Vision plans as well as the $30 per month SERO plan will apparently be terminated and replace by the $69 per month Everything plan.

Wow! That's a BIG price increase! Let hope it's not true...

Are you going to cancel the contract if the price increase does happen?
