Damn! Just signed up to 12mths with O2 paying £7.50 for their "unlimited" (200MB) package.

Would have gone with Vodafone just for this!

They go on who the car is registered to, i.e. the name and address on the V5 log book.

If it's your name, and your Dad refuses to confess - it's your licence that gets the points.

I'm gonna buy a new (used) car. My student banger is not what she used to be (no wait, she is, but I've driven 20,000 miles since I got her!)

I'm looking to spend £3,000-£3,500 and want it no more than 5 years old, and preferably of the "medium, family hatchback" variety.

This week, I have been mostly doing some research on Vauxhall Astras (my parents have had them almost since I was born, so I know them quite well wink.gif ) but then again my parents have one...

I have also been looking at Ford Escorts, but have been so far most tempted by one of these:

FIAT Brava 80 16V SX 1.2L

Once you've all calmed down from laughing, I DO want a 1.2L as I'm gonna commute with it and I'm cheap. And environmentally friendly.

Found one in Birmingham (where I live). £3000 from dealer. V reg (as the picture shows  ). 35,000 miles.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Reliability and the like? Any one know anything about cars?

If any mods are reading this, I'd be more than happy to receive the entries to such a competition and sort them, process them etc.

Smartphone prizes to be won perhaps

Just wondering how I could prove they came from a smartphone :?:

I've used MSN Messenger. I have 150kbps ADSL, and my Dad (albeit in UK with me) has 56kbps dial-up, and it works fine.

I'm gonna buy a couple of DECT phones for my house, and want to be able to use them as intercoms. No problem, lots advertise this functionality.

Unfortunately, I also want them to do something very specific, and I wonder if anyone here knows about it!

I'd like to be able to speak into one handset, and have it come out the other like a speakerphone, but with the receiver not needing to press any buttons.

E.g. I pick up my handset, press what ever I have to press, and say "Dinner's ready". The other handset broadcasts my voice, and dinner is eaten when warm.

Is it possible?

If it is, do you know what that function is called?

Not sure why I'm posting, as I'm no expert either, but my limited knowledge says:

- Conversion is possible with no data loss. Your decision whether to back it all up - I reckon it's a major task so (could) go t*ts up.

- Performance wise, at 40GB probably not much in it. With huge HDs, it might do

- The difference is more the extra security stuff it allows. If you don't need it, then don't bother.

My recommendation - Don't bother.

Anyone else?

May I suggest either MSN Messenger 6 (then you can chat as well!)

Or WWW FileShare www.wfshome.com , although this does rely on your IP address. It makes your IP address act as a web server, so http://my.ip:port/ is a link to a directory of your choice.

I've got the Tiscali 150K package. Sounds (and is) so much slower than you people's 2MB connection, but compared to 56K, web surfing is SOOOO much better!

Sounds ok to me! Surely one step better than watching the film...

Do you buy them on CD? Or download them? If so, where from?

What about people's right to smoke? I'm asthmatic, but when I go in a pub, people want to relax and take legal drugs - who am I to stop them?

Brody's right, it'll never happen. Unless it was brought in with a law making tobacco illegal. Ha ha ha....

MOST importantly:

What about car pollution? Do you breathe that in, or do you live on a rock in the middle of the North Sea?
