Hello all. Great to hear from some of the longer serving lurkers Anyone for gossip about new devices coming to O2 in the UK? Because I've just been told by O2 Business that the release of the XDA Graphite, XDA Trion, and XDA Zinc are all imminent and that the XDA Argon won't be far behind. Wahoo! Meanwhile, hope to catch you all again on the board soon. |

I've no idea if they're referring to Techfaith Wireless or HTC. Personally I'm not so sold on i-mate as their criticism of HTC seems unjustified to me. Don't the allegations of poor build quality coinciding with HTC setting up their own shop seem a little too convenient? |

Good to see you both back. I've been a little absent myself this last month (sorry Awarner!) but trying to catch up again... |

Methinks Handango made a mistake by thinking they could save themselves some money by doing you wrong. Glad they partially made up for the mistake. |

ok...seriously...if i hear one more person talking about 3g being GOOD i swear i will punch them streight in the mouth the coverage just makes it downright useless...and its slow at the quickest of times A little strong don't you think?! And I've no idea what you're talking about 3G being slow. Having experienced HSDPA data speeds in 3G coverage areas (which incidentally for me in Greater London that seems to be everywhere that HAS T-Mobile coverage) I don't think I'd ever go back to 2G/2.5G speeds... |

Good work Paul. Keep them coming. Incidentally, for those who missed Paul's past posts about it, MoDaCo is derived from Mobile Data Communications so the proper pronunciation could be Moe-Day-Coe or Moe-Dar-Coe depending on how you pronounce Data. So Jcjdoss isn't wrong, he's just pronouncing it the American way! Me, I pronounce it the latter way... |

Having read through the email history I must admit I'm shocked. Yes John was slightly demanding at times (not getting into whether he had right to be or not) but that doesn't seem a well thought out response at all! The negative publicity this will get Handango will lose them far more then they will make up by reselling his ad spots. And that's disregarding the actual sales from his products (which I must admit I've never used but hear enough about to hold him in regard as an accomplished developer). I hope a resolution is arrived at swiftly that ensures satisfaction for both parties, and that no one at Handango takes it personally (although I can't help thinking they already did). |

Signal coverage is a funny thing. I was in New Quay, Wales last week and slightly surprised to find that while O2 had no usable signal, T-Mobile had a good three bars. I thought O2 were meant to be one of the best for coverage and that T-Mobile were poor in rural areas?! The Welsh coast is pretty rural! Unfortunately no Orange accounts. Anyone know if New Quay, Wales, on the coast gets any Orange signal coverage? |

hehe. Yeah, I know the Aussie way. Had an Australian housemate when I lived in Toronto, Canada back in 2002 (seems u Aussies get around almost as much as us Brits!). Funnily enough I was just trying to work out why you were referring to those born in September as Spring chickens given it's the end of Summer and towards the beginning of Winter! But of course it's not so in Australia! |

Welcome back! The platform really has improved no end since those days as you've noticed. Interestingly though there's been a move by many away from the Smartphone platform to a new range of more compact and more feature packed Pocket PC Phones. There are loads of Pocket PC Phones from HTC coming all the time and barely a trickle of Smartphones. Added to the fact that both platforms are heading towards eventual convergence it's not surprising many of us are moving to new hybridised Pocket PCs (more compact and often with integrated keyboard). Or you can just do what I do and carry one of each! |

Prob just that I found it easier to suspend disbelief for Flash Gordon with it being sci-fi and all (and lets face it, twas so bad it was good!) whereas Iron Eagle was just WAY too unlikely |
