Hi All, I want to register a domain name but have been burnt in the past by supposedly decent registration companies that registered the domain name under their name and when I wanted to transfer the name, they refused. So I basically want a decent company that is officially an accredited registrar that can host my domain. I am willing to pay more of course (i've learnt my lesson, you pay for what you get!). Thanks. WiFi eats batteries! What's wrong with using 3G? Well for starters, I am not allowed to Skype on Web'n'Walk on T-mob. Wifi would give me that ability to make PC-to-PC phone calls and even cheap calls to international phone numbers. That's a big plus for me. And indeed, there are times when 3G network is a bit ropey- even in London. So I think, in this case, wifi would definately complement the 3G network rather than replace. |

This may not be constructive criticism, but I'm so glad I left Orange. I was an O customer for 10 years. For the last 5 years, I was a big spender. Did O reward me? NOPE! People joining O on low end contracts were getting better deals than me. Furthermore, the customer service people were useless. I got all my Orange network information from the Modaco website. I would get a different answer from the CS people... no consistency whatsoever. And the data charges were criminal! I have now cut my phone bill from approximately £120 a month with O to £45 (inclusive of my Web-n-Walk) a month with T-mobile. It's so refreshing to get a good deal, surf on 3G without worrying about data charges and have a great phone that was competitively priced considering the cheap contract I took out with them. Mr Orange, you're going to have to do a lot more than just pick up on a few issues and "feed them back" to headquarters. O is a sinking ship that requires a complete about turn in marketing, product portfolio, pricing and people management. Abandon ship! |

QUOTE(Coucou @ Mar 5 2006, 16:10) I used to post a lot here, left for a Treo600, then got a Samsung D500, now back on a SPV C600 - I don't think I'll be on here as much as I used to be though. My phone is now a lot less central to my life lol. I also remember a user that had a borg-like avatar that posted loads, and then summer hols came, and they stopped completely. I also remember a French user that would come here regularly and give us updates on new windows mobile phones coming out- I think his username was sebset. It is weird to think that since having purchased my 1st SPV, I have had 4 long term girlfriends, a wife (recently got married), 3 jobs and quite a few white hairs. Ps. I remember you coucou- you once told us that your username was chosen on the basis of some greeting a French pen pal would write to you. |

QUOTE(fluffcat1 @ Feb 26 2006, 17:21) I personally find listings ending sunday afternoon do best - weekday afternoon and everybody's at work, evening endings and everyone's knackered after work, saturday afternoon and people are out shopping etc, evening and people are getting ready to go out, but sunday, all they're missing is a lie in or Heartbeat so a lot of people surf ebay. Low value items need to be on for longer for people to see them. High value items will have a ready market and be seen quickly so a short period increases the buyers bidding 'urgency' if you like and you sometes get silly biddng wars as no-one likes to loose. YMMV however. Richard Thanks for this advice. I've sold a few things on ebay... and I have only had 2 successful auctions- U2 concert tickets and my sis's leather bag. The other stuff did terribly; hence I want to improve my ebaying skills. I always thought that when people are at work, they'll browse ebay over lunch or when they have little to do. I'll stick some of my stuff on Tuesday for a 5 day auction (will end on Sunday) and see how that goes. Cheers. |

I've got a bunch of household stuff I want to sell on ebay. When is the best time to list an auction- a weekend or a week day. And for small knick knacky objects like used CDs etc, do you think a 3 or 5 day auction is better? Should an auction end on a weekend or a week day? Thanks for all your help. Benzo |

My first ever message on Modaco: QUOTE Posted on: Dec 2 2002, 09:31 I find it irritating that I have to sync the phone to my laptop to retrieve photos taken. Surely there must be a way to ir transfer photos instead? I have searched the manual, but can't find anything remotely useful. If anyone knows how to, please pass this knowledge on! Thanks in advance! Benzo. The SPV when it first came out drove me crazy! It couldn't do anything except for crash on me. 4 years laters, I'm still using an SPV. Ps. Whatever happened to Vikki Neil ???? |

QUOTE(awarner [MVP] @ Feb 13 2006, 22:20) midnight started to get busy with work etc and so could not spend the time here that he used to. Richie_M had PC problems which carried on for a long time. Now for other members from the past. In the very early says there was Bazz Firaas HelloDave MBoden (creator of the first Doom port) plus a few other apps. I think there was also a Superking Dave- who I remember because when there was a big discussion on Iraq, he was pro-war and as a staunch anti-war person, that fact stuck in my mind. There was also a Calisto- a Greek dude with a chilled out avatar. And does Captain Janeway still frequent the board? |

QUOTE(Disco Stu @ Feb 12 2006, 23:55) Hang on a minute, where have you been Benzo ? That's not a good post count for such a longstanding member ! What's your story ? I would call myself a 'watcher'. I try to contribute when I have something meaningful. But I do pop my head up every so often. It's strange to see Modaco evolve. When it first started up, it was very much a community and everyone knew each other. Off topic chat used to be the central hub. I now kind of look at Modaco as an organisation- a great one at that. But unavoidably, it has lost a little of that small community feel. |

QUOTE(mcwarre @ Nov 19 2005, 22:46) Peeps, It's all about Oil. Full Stop. I have been (am) in the UK millitary for 17 years. Oil is the most precious commodity in the world today. People/Nations will fight for that. Full Stop. Cos it is so obvious, that I am glad that I am leaving the military soon and not having to put up with political b*ll*x Good luck to you. I respect you even more after seeing those soldiers in Iraq beat those kids up and the camera man laughing and encouraging them today on the news,. You are an asset to the army- 'tis a shame the government pushed you away with their pretense and lies. Again, good luck! |

I joined Modaco a while back, in fact around when it started when Paul was experimenting witn PHP and we were still actively posting messages in the microsoft message board. Anyway, I was just wondering- where have these members who were once quite active gone? Chewie Fraser Casper508 Big Ron Madu Emad siu99spj There was also this user who I think was from Paris- his avatar displayed an image of some cat that had its fur shaved except for its head- his name was like spvylch or something. If any of you can remember a few others, feel free to list them. Anyway, enough reminiscing for me. Enjoy your sunday evening. |

What twisted creation will the purchasing of skype by ebay create?? QUOTE Online auction site eBay has agreed to buy internet telephone company Skype Technologies in a $2.6bn (£1.4bn) deal. eBay said it would pay half the amount in cash and the other half in stocks to create "an unparalleled e-commerce and communications engine". QUOTE(bdmoore @ Sep 1 2005, 10:09) Hi all, Not been on here for a long time but I had a mail from Orange Trials last night inviting me to apply and this seemed like as good a place as any to discuss it! There was no info on the trial but the URL mentioned convergence so I'm guessing that's the title of it, just wondering if anyone else was aware of this and knew what it was - a quick google search brought back a few pointers towards integrated devices and I thought perhaps a trial of the HTC Universal / M5000? If so then I hope I get accepted I too got the email and registered. Knowing my luck it'll be for some Nokia rubbish. |
